Black Dog in a Field of Fire

Inspired by Van Gogh's expressive use of colour and movement in his painting 'Wheatfield with Crows'. The calm presence of the black dog contrasts with the restless landscape surrounding it, using the external world to suggest an internal emotional state. Acrylic paint mixed with impasto medium was applied with brushes and by hand, building texture and movement across the surface.
